Description

Country House Hideout - A luxury camping holiday adventure. Swap the tiresome distractions of City life for wonderfully atmospheric safari-style tents promising a care free adventure for all.

With just four luxury encampments at the heart of the estate, each begging to be explored, a stay at Acton Scott will give children a gentle introduction to rural life and the adults an opportunity to unwind and relax.

We have teamed up with Country House Hideout to bring their Luxury Encampments to the estate.  Each is located on its own private clearing in the tranquil setting of Hatton Wood, an ancient 20 acre plantation of native trees, flora and fauna. From here, you can enjoy the sounds of owls and skylarks, while being surrounded by pastures managed to encourage wildlife and affording panoramic views.

Your private encampment sleeps up to eight and includes a plumbed-in loo, luxurious beds and a personal bathing tent.  There's proper furniture, a wind up gramophone and fully equipped kitchen with running water, so there’s no need to bring anything from home! The children will love exploring the Discovery Tent equipped with binoculars, microscope and telescope.

A cooking cart, which looks like an Aga on wheels, is great for slow cooking in the outdoors. But, if you fancy an evening off and just can't tear yourself away from Acton Scott, we have arranged for the finest local produce and prepared meals to be delivered to your encampment.

Acton Scott has long been a pioneer of sustainable living. The Hall was one of the first private homes to use woodchips to provide its heating and estate forestry is likewise used to heat your water.  Tom Acton reduces his carbon footprint by driving an electric-powered car and you too can save fossil fuel by peddling the Bicycle that Country House Hideout provides to help power the lighting in your tents!

There's lots to do nearby. The Historic Working Farm is a ten minute walk from your encampment, where the children will enjoy meeting Tamworth piglets, watching heavy horses at work and learning about butter making. Visit the handy Acton Scott School House Cafe and enjoy lovely guided walks and cycle rides in the parkland.  Pretty market towns, such as Ludlow and Shrewsbury, are close by and well worth exploring.
